SubEthaEdit is a very interesting text editor - it was used to write this web page. One of its most interesting features is that it allows several authors to edit the same document simultanously across a network (locally or over the internet).
This script was written by me on behalf of a MacNN forum member, they asked if someone would write it. It was an interesting idea, so I did.
When run, this script will attempt to compile the contents of the front document as Java. Errors in compilation will be displayed in a new Text Edit document.
Where to install the script
The script's location does not affect how it works, but there are a couple of places you can keep the script that will make it easier to use.
The AppleScript Menu
Place the script in the following location: ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/SubEthaEdit/
(If the Directories below Library do not exist you should create them yourself.)
If you do not have the AppleScript Menu in your menubar you can activate it by opening the following file: /Applications/AppleScript/Script Menu.menu
n.b. The script will only show in the menu when SubEthaEdit is the front application.
